AJ's PICKS OF THE WEEK

week of August 9th, 2017

Here is the list of good to decent to OK to not so enjoyable books in no uncertain order, but not good enough to warrant a write-up. Feel free to disagree:

Unholy Grail #2

Casian & K-2SO Special

Jean Grey #5

Generations: The Phoenix

Doctor Aphra #11

Unsound #3

Old Man Logan #27

Flash #28

Newsboy Legion Special

Galaktikon #1 (Funny in spots)

Amazing Spider-Man #31

Clue #3

Detective #962

The rest of the books are worthy of at least a brief write-up:

Action #965: Superman and Lex team up to stop the Machinist. Pretty good, not great. Guest creator team.

Secret Empire #8: Pretty good, mostly all-out action issue. Somewhat surprising ending.

Captain America #25: Pretty good as well. Call this Secret Empire 7.5.

New Super-Man #14: Kong Kenan looks to stop "Emperor" Superman from controlling China, and the Suicide Squad gets involved too. Pretty good.

Hal Jordan & the GLC #26: Pretty good issue as Orion of the New Gods guest stars.

Hulk #9:  As Jen she goes out to see Warren, Oliver's BF to try and help them. As the Hulk, she goes to the two responsible and tells them to shut down the website now or pay the consequences. Very good issue.

All-New Wolverine #23: The Brood have Gabby and Laura is hellbent on getting her back. Guardians of the Galaxy guest star. Pretty good issue.

Redlands #1: Florida town in the 1970's is controlled by witches and demons and overruns the local jail. Pretty good 1st issue.

Defenders #4: finalist Great issue as Diamondback gets his. Mostly a Jessica Jones/Iron Fist team up issue.

Red Hood #13: finalist Bizzaro is at his death bed. Only one man can save him...Lex Luthor? Great issue.

Mister Miracle #1: finalist What's going on with Scott Free? Excellent issue.

Titans #14: finalist The team fractures over secrets and mistrust but tries to keep it together. One of them is a betrayer. Surprising ending.

AND NOW, AJ's PRESENTS THE TOP 3 OF THE WEEK FOR AUGUST 11th, 2017:

NUMBER THREE

kobk 11

Dylan decides that the demon that has been controlling him for all these months and made him go on a killing spree was all inn his head, and tries to regain a semblance of life.

But, was it really?

Great ending!

NUMBER TWO

sarced 2

Excellent issue.

I am a sucker for the metaphysical, and angelology and this book has it in spades!

Great second issue!

NUMBER ONE

ss23

This book has been hit or miss with me since its relaunch last year.

Some issues have been very good to excellent while others have been downright crap.

This issue falls strongly in the former category as this HAS to be the single best issue of this series to date!

The Squad, at Waller's behest is hunting down Killer Frost to bring her back to the team, even though she agreed to let Batman take her to his JLA.

Since Waller went back on her word, batman gets involved...drastically.

Fantastic issue from beginning to end and definitely
